عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِذَا اسْتَجْمَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيُوتِرْ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ ، أَمَا تَرَى أَنَّ السَّمَاوَاتِ سَبْعٌ ، وَالْأَرَضِينَ سَبْعٌ ، وَالطَّوَافَ سَبْعٌ " . وَذَكَرَ أَشْيَاءَ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَزَادَ : " وَالْجِمَارَ " ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you uses stones (for cleansing after relieving himself), he should use them in an odd number. Indeed Allah Almighty is Odd (Witr) and He loves what is odd. Do you not see that the heavens are seven, the earths are seven, and the circuits of Tawaf are seven?" (The narrator says:) He mentioned some other things as well.
