Muhammad bin Ishaq narrates: At Hunayn, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke to the delegation of the tribe of Hawazin, having asked them about Malik bin Awf al-Nasri: "How is Malik?" They said: "He is in Ta'if." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Tell Malik that if he comes to me as a Muslim, I will return his family and his wealth to him and also give him one hundred camels." Malik was informed of this, and he set out from Ta'if to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Malik feared for himself from the tribe of Thaqif, that they had come to know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said this about him, and that they might imprison him. So Malik gave orders for his riding camel, and it was made ready. He gave orders for his horse, and it was brought to him from Ta'if. He set out by night, sat upon his horse and caught up with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at al-Ji'ranah, or perhaps at Makkah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned his family and his wealth to him and also gave him one hundred camels.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
