Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had Abdullah bin Khatal killed. The people brought him out from beneath the coverings of the Ka'bah and then struck his neck between Zamzam and the Maqam of Ibrahim. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After today, no Qurashi will be killed bound (in captivity)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and recorded something similar in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ma'shar Najih, who is da'if (weak).
