Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Uyaynah bin Hisn bin Hudhayfah raided the milch camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and drove them away. Sayyiduna Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I went out with my bow and my arrows; I wanted to go hunting. When I reached the place "Thaniyyat al-Wada'", I saw that those people were driving them away from there. So I rode on horseback up the mountain "Sal'" and called out at the top of my voice: "Ya sabahah! (An attack!)" My call reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it was announced among the people: "Danger! Danger!" I went out and began shooting arrows at those people, saying: "Take this! I am Ibn al-Akwa'!" After a short while I saw the horsemen of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) coming through the trees. Eight horsemen caught up with them, and the first of those who caught up with them was Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah bin Rib'i (may Allah be pleased with him). He speared a man from Banu Fazarah named Sa'd, took off the cloak and put it over him, then he went on after the enemy with the other horsemen. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by while the people were alarmed and were saying: "Abu Qatadah has been killed!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is not Abu Qatadah; rather, this is the man killed by Abu Qatadah. Leave him and his belongings alone." He said: "Press on quickly in pursuit of the enemy." The people did so swiftly, and they recovered the milch camels that could be saved, and the enemy took away those that remained. Muhammad bin Talhah narrates: In the narration he named those who went after the milch camels. They are Sayyiduna Ukkashah bin Mihsan (may Allah be pleased with him); Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), who is called Ibn al-Aswad, and he was an ally of Banu Zuhrah; and Sayyiduna Muhriz bin Nadlah al-Asadi, who was an ally of Banu Abd Shams. According to one report, no one from among those people was killed except him. From the Ansar: Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Zayd al-Ashhali (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the commander of those people; Sayyiduna Abbad bin Bishr al-Ashhali (may Allah be pleased with him); Sayyiduna Zuhayr bin Amr al-Harithi (may Allah be pleased with him); Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah bin Rib'i (may Allah be pleased with him); and Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Ma'is al-Zuraqi (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abu Ayyash al-Zuraqi (may Allah be pleased with him) was one of those five people. He narrates: I came riding on my horse. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Ayyash! If you were to give this horse of yours to someone who is a better horseman than you, (that would be appropriate)." I said: "I am the best horseman among the Arabs." The narrator says: My horse had gone only fifty cubits when it threw me and my leg was broken. I said: "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth." Then I gave my horse to my cousin Mu'adh bin Ma'is al-Zuraqi. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of this narration is mentioned in the "Sahih".
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Musa bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Taymi, who is da'if (weak).
