Ubaydullah bin Abdullah al-Zuraqi narrates this from his father. Once the narrator al-Fazari transmitted these words: it is reported from Ibn Rifa'ah al-Zuraqi, from his father; while others besides al-Fazari transmitted these words: it is reported from Ubaydullah bin Rifa'ah al-Zuraqi. He narrates: "On the day of the Battle of Uhud, when the polytheists had retreated, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Straighten up, so that I may praise my Lord.' The people formed rows behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication: 'O Allah! All praise, all of it, belongs to You alone. O Allah! Whomever You grant abundance, there is none to straiten him; and whomever You straiten, there is none to grant him abundance. Whomever You lead astray, there is none to guide him; and whomever You guide, there is none to lead him astray. Whomever You withhold from, there is none to give him; and whomever You give, there is none to withhold from him. Whomever You put far, there is none to bring him near; and whomever You bring near, there is none to put him far. O Allah! Spread over us Your blessings, Your mercy, Your bounty and Your provision. O Allah! I ask You for lasting blessings which will not be interrupted and which will not cease. O Allah! I ask You for blessings on the day of want, and for security on the day of fear. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You have given us, and from the evil of what You have not given us. O Allah! Make faith beloved to us and adorn it in our hearts, and make disbelief, wickedness and disobedience hateful to us, and make us among the rightly guided. O Allah! Cause us to die as Muslims, keep us alive as Muslims, and join us with the righteous, without being disgraced or put to trial. O Allah! Destroy the disbelievers who deny Your messengers or block others from Your path, and send down Your severity and Your punishment upon them (the disbelievers). O Allah! Destroy those disbelievers who were given the Book, O true God!'"
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it. He (al-Bazzar) limited it to the narration of Ubayd bin Rifa'ah from his father, and this is correct; however, in it the words are: "O Allah! Destroy the disbelievers of the People of the Book (i.e. those who belong to them)." The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
