ʿAqīqah on Behalf of Living Parents
From the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
“Every child is in pledge for his ʿAqīqah.”
It is understood from this that if the parents did not perform the ʿAqīqah, then the child may perform it on their behalf, because anyone has the right to release that which is in pledge.
