Allah Almighty says:
يَأَيُّهَا النَّاسُ كُلُوا مِمَّا فِي الْأَرْضِ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
O people! Eat from what is lawful and pure on the earth, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.‘‘
When Allah Almighty stated that there is no deity except Him and that He alone created the creation, He also declared that He is the Provider for all creatures. Then, as a favor, He mentioned that He has made lawful and pure things permissible for the creation (humans) to eat and has forbidden benefiting from unlawful things.
إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ This was said out of hatred for Satan and to avoid him, because every sin and disobedience خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ is from Satan.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا ادْخُلُوا فِي السِّلْمِ كَافَّةً وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ ۚ إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
“O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.”
Allah Almighty commanded the believers to adopt all the commands of Islam, to fulfill the prescribed matters according to their ability, and to refrain from what is forbidden.
ادْخُلُوا فِي السِّلْمِ كَافَّةً
Meaning, enter completely into Islam (by obeying Allah and His Messenger).
وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ
Meaning, perform acts of obedience and avoid what Satan commands.
إِنَّهُ لَكُمْ عَدُوٌّ مُّبِينٌ
Meaning, he is your clear enemy.
