❖ Question:

What is the ruling, in light of the Qur’an and Hadith, on using Qurbani animal hides for construction-related work in the Eidgah—such as filling soil or building boundary walls—while the poor and needy are present?

✅ Answer:

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʾAmma baʿd!

✿ Evidence from Hadith:

In Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Volume 1, Page 424, the following Hadith is narrated:

(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim – Book of Ḥajj – Chapter: Charity of sacrificial meat, hides, and coverings; and not giving anything from it as a butcher’s wage)

Translation:
ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (رضي الله عنه) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ instructed him to supervise the sacrificial camels and further instructed him to distribute all of their meat, hides, and coverings among the needy, and not to give the butcher any part of it as payment.

✿ Legal Ruling:

◈ In light of this Hadith, it is explicitly clear that the hides of Qurbani animals should be distributed among the poor and needy, as per the Sunnah and guidance of the Prophet ﷺ.

◈ Therefore, using these hides for construction purposes such as filling soil or building walls in an Eidgah goes against this Prophetic directive, especially when there are needy individuals present who are more deserving of this resource.
