❀ The More People Attend Janazah Prayer, the More Benefit for the Deceased

The larger the number of attendees at the Janazah (funeral) prayer, the greater the benefit for the deceased.

➊ Narration from Hazrat Aishah (رضي الله عنها):

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:

ما من ميت يصلى عليه أمة من المسلمين يبلغون مائة كلهم يشفعون له إلا شفعوا فيه
“Whenever a group of Muslims, numbering one hundred, offer the Janazah prayer for a deceased person and all intercede for him, their intercession is accepted on his behalf.”

📚 [Muslim: 947, Kitab al-Jana’iz: Chapter on the intercession of a hundred; Al-Nasa’i: 4/75; Tirmidhi: 1029]

➋ Narration from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنهما):

If forty (40) believers, who do not associate partners with Allah, attend the Janazah prayer:

إلا شفعهم الله فيه
“Then Allah will certainly accept their intercession on behalf of the deceased.”

📚 [Muslim: 948; also in Abu Dawud: 3170; Ibn Majah: 1489; Ahmad: 1/277]

✔ Summary of Virtues:

❶ A hundred Muslims offering Janazah prayer and interceding — intercession is accepted.
❷ Even forty sincere monotheists participating — Allah accepts their intercession.
❸ The greater the number, the more likely the deceased will benefit through accepted intercession.
❹ These narrations encourage Muslims to attend Janazah prayers in large numbers for the benefit of their fellow believers.
