10- The Successful Group and Its Identification
Ahl al-Sunnah is the group known as Taifah Mansurah (the victorious group), and this is the group that will be saved. These are the people who adhere to the way of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his companions in both action and belief.
The belief of Ahl al-Sunnah is that they have faith in Allah, the angels, the books, the messengers, the Day of Judgment (Hereafter), and in the good and bad of predestination. They consider Allah Almighty as the Creator and Owner of everything. Their belief is that only Allah Almighty is worthy of worship, and everything else is false. They believe in all the beloved names and attributes of Allah that have been mentioned, and those mentioned by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. They do not believe in any form of distortion, negation, questioning of the nature, or anthropomorphism in this matter. They accept the attributes of the angels as mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah. They worship Allah according to the established principles of Shariah and avoid innovating in religion from their own side. Considering every innovation as misguidance, they worship Allah sincerely, because they have been commanded to do so, as Allah Almighty says:
وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ
“And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.”
They do not introduce anything new in their actions and beliefs that is not established in the religion; rather, they are extremely sincere in obedience to Allah and His Messenger ﷺ. Therefore, this is the group that will be successful. This is also the victorious sect, and they are truly deserving of being called Ahl al-Sunnah.
