The Ruling on Sports Competitions
“In sports competitions, receiving monetary compensation is not permissible because the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Competitions with compensation are only allowed in horse racing, camel racing, and archery.'”
This is because, unlike other games, competitions in these three areas serve as training for jihad. Therefore, compensation is only permissible in these specific competitions. The three things mentioned in the Hadith refer to horses, camels, and weapons.
