Exegesis in the Light of Hadith

Imam Saeed bin Mansoor (d. 227 AH) narrated:

Translation of the Hadith

Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka’b (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “I have been commanded to recite the Quran before you.” Ubayy (RA) asked: “Has my Lord mentioned my name before you?” The Prophet ﷺ replied: “Yes!” Then he recited this verse: ﴿قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللّٰهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ …﴾ and said: “It refers to the Book of Allah and Islam, and it is better than all that people accumulate.”

Benefit

In the light of this hadith, it is understood that Allah’s grace is the “Quran” and Allah’s mercy is “Islam.” Therefore, believers should be pleased not with the wealth and riches of the world but with the Quran and Islam, because these two are Allah’s greatest blessings.

The researcher of the book, Dr. Saad bin Abdullah Al-Humaid, after investigating this narration, said: «سنده حسن لذاته» meaning: “This narration is classified as Hasan (good) in its own right.”
