Narrative Against Liberalism and the Remedy for Social Corruption

Written by: Shaykh Hāmid Kamāl al-Dīn

The Reality of Liberalism and the Current Scenario

Liberalism is being introduced across the world as part of a systematic plan, with its various aspects distributed among different segments of society. Each group is carrying out its assigned role, to the extent that even some pious individuals are participating in seemingly harmless aspects of this “reconstruction.” In a liberal society, the concepts of gender, freedom, and morality are being redefined, and this has a profound impact on every facet of social life.

The Rising Trend of Rape in Liberal Societies

A liberal society is one where the obsession with sexuality is widely promoted, and discussing incidents such as assault on women becomes commonplace. Crimes like “rape” are deeply rooted in the profound influence of liberalism. Statistics from Western societies bear witness to the fact that the more liberal a society becomes, the higher the rate of rape incidents. This issue has become an integral part of the liberal social structure, and the uproar surrounding it often serves more to gain media attention than to bring about real reform.

Deterrent Punishment or Social Revolution?

Raising noise on social media or calling for exemplary punishments cannot be effective unless a strong narrative is developed. Liberalism considers honor, modesty, and chastity to be mythical concepts; thus, merely proposing harsh punishments will not resolve the issue.

An Unfilled Role for Religious Organizations

In Pakistani society, religious organizations have a significant vacant space. They can launch a strong movement against this social corruption—similar to the movement once launched against Qadiyanism. But the condition is that a strong, effective, and clear narrative must be developed—one that can awaken the honor and protective zeal of the common man.

The Role of the Pulpit and Mihrab

If this narrative gains the strength of the pulpit and mihrab, and it is engraved into the hearts of the public as a rallying cry, it can become the prelude to a major movement. An even greater breakthrough can be achieved than was accomplished through past movements against corruption.

Limitations of Social Media

No grassroots movement can emerge solely through trending hashtags on social media, unless there is already a strong and active campaign on the ground to confront the challenges posed by liberalism.

Conclusion: The Need for an Immediate and Effective Strategy

To stop the rapidly growing onslaught of liberalism, there is a need for an immediate and robust strategy. We must move beyond the confines of social media and step into the practical arena so that Islamic values can be defended and the future of coming generations can be safeguarded.
