Argument Numbers: 7, 8
Abu Bakr bin Khalid stated:
“I saw Saad bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) in Medina, and he said that it is said that you people curse Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). I said: Indeed, that happens. He said: Perhaps you also curse Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). I said: May Allah forbid! He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (Then never) curse him again, and even if a saw is placed on my head to make me curse him, I will never do so after what I have heard about him from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).”
Qais bin Abi Hazim narrates that I was in Medina, and once I was going to the market. When I reached the place called Ahjar al-Zayt, I saw people gathered around a man who was riding a mount. That man was insulting Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). At that moment, Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived there and also stood there. He asked the people: What happened? The people told him that a man was insulting Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Saad moved forward, and the people made way for him. Hazrat Saad came close to that man and said: Hey, why are you insulting Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him)? Was he not the first to become Muslim? Was he not the first person to pray behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? Was he not the most indifferent to the world? Was he not the most knowledgeable? He mentioned other things as well, even saying: Was he not the son-in-law of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? Was he not the standard-bearer of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the battles? After that, Hazrat Saad (may Allah be pleased with him) faced the Qibla, raised his hands, and prayed: “O Allah! This person is insulting one of Your friends, a wali. O Allah! Show Your miracle before this gathering disperses.” Hazrat Qais says: By Allah! We had not yet moved from there when his mount suddenly went wild, and it threw that man headfirst onto the stones, causing his skull to split open and his brain to come out, and he died right there.
Now, apparently, according to Mirza Sahib’s argument, there is nothing in these narrations, but when you listen to and read them along with Mirza Sahib’s explanations and brackets, you will find mention of Hazrat Muawiyah رضي الله عنه as well, and the entire blame for this action will be placed on his shoulders. However, until now, in all the arguments presented by Mirza Sahib, there is no proof that Sayyiduna Muawiyah رضي الله عنه ever insulted Sayyiduna Janab Ali رضي الله عنه, let alone cursed him! Nor is it proven that anything like this happened by his order or permission.
If anyone insults Sayyidina Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) or curses him, we clearly condemn this reprehensible act, and may Allah and all those who curse be cursed upon such a person who was and is an enemy of Ali and Ahl al-Bayt (may Allah be pleased with them) until the Day of Judgment. But we are not hypocrites or two-faced; we also say that not only this, but may Allah’s curse be upon anyone who insults, curses, criticizes, harbors enmity towards, or falsely accuses any of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him) taught us to respect and love all of them, but the Rawafid and those who follow their path do not dare to say this. We only say that while showing excessive love for some companions, one should not slander or defame other companions.
The engineer used to say often while discussing this topic that he had included all the narrations related to it in his research paper. So, praise be to Allah, by Allah’s grace, we have mentioned all those evidences here and proven that none of the narrations presented by Mirza Sahib contain anything like what he claimed. So, isn’t this a false accusation against a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ? It is forbidden to slander even the most ordinary Muslim, so what would be the ruling regarding those who are the best and most excellent people of this Ummah?
