❖ Question
Is it permissible to perform Salah on the roof of a mosque? A certain scholar claims that it is not allowed.
❖ Answer
It is permissible to offer Salah on the roof of any mosque.
Evidence:
“Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) performed prayer on the roof of the mosque.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1)
The prohibition applies only to the roof of the Ka’bah (Baytullah). It appears the mentioned scholar may have confused the general ruling with this specific exception.
