❀ Collective Du‘a After Janazah Prayer

According to Shaykh Ibn Baz (رحمه الله), there is no evidence that the Prophet (ﷺ) or the Rightly Guided Caliphs ever engaged in collective supplication (du‘a) after the Janazah prayer.

📚 [Al-Fatawa al-Islamiyyah: 2/30]

The Saudi Permanent Committee for Islamic Research and Ifta’ has also issued a fatwa in accordance with this, declaring that making collective du‘a after the Janazah prayer is an innovation (bid‘ah).

📚 [Al-Fatawa al-Islamiyyah: 2/16]

✔ Summary of the Ruling:

❶ No authentic report from the Prophet (ﷺ) or the Khulafa’ al-Rashidun proves the practice of collective du‘a after Janazah.
❷ Based on this absence of precedent, Shaykh Ibn Baz and the Saudi Council of Scholars have ruled it as a bid‘ah (innovation).
❸ Therefore, it is not from the Sunnah to engage in group supplication after the funeral prayer.
