Human Intellect and the Questions of Atheism
A specific capability has been placed within human existence, which we may refer to as the ability to wonder, doubt, and question. Among the human population of more than seven billion, every individual is born with a unique style of thinking. The question arises: based on intellect and understanding, who should be considered more reasonable? This is where differences emerge. However, if such questions are presented to someone who considers them merely an intellectual exercise, then no conclusive outcome can ever be reached.
Questions Raised by Atheism: An Example
Atheists often pose questions that appear profound but are in fact baseless. For example:
① Placement of the Eyes: An atheist may ask why Allah placed the eyes at the front and not one in front and one at the back.
② The Existence of the Neck: Why was the neck created only for eating? If eyes were on both sides, there would be no need for the neck to move.
③ Why Not Two Mouths? Atheists may also ask why a human doesn’t have two mouths to eat from both sides.
These questions are not profound but rather a play of imagination. If humans were created with such features, their physical structure would be odd and imbalanced.
The Natural System of the Human Body
The human eyes provide a 180-degree vision, and the ability of the neck to turn aids in viewing the surrounding environment. The human bodily system — such as the heart, kidneys, and other organs — has been placed at the front so internal changes can be felt, such as stomach pain or chest pain.
Comparison with Hindu Mythological Concepts
In Hinduism, idols of deities are shown with four arms or six mouths, but can this be considered a perfect creation? The creation of Allah is full of beauty and balance, far more complete than any artificial imagination.
Objections of Atheism and Evolution
Evolution and Genetic Mutations
Atheists claim that humans have evolved through various stages into their current form. However, the question arises:
✔ How did a human come into being with such a complex structure merely by chance?
✔ If humans were completed through environmental changes, then why does breath become short? Why can the eyes not look directly at the sun?
The Creation of Gender
Atheists regard the creation of male and female as an outcome of evolution. But if only men were created and had the ability to bear children, then during wars, pregnant men would be killed, and the continuation of the human race would have ended.
Comparison Between Atheism and Religion
The Fruitfulness of Religion
Atheism does not arrive at any definitive outcome through its questions, while religion provides practical guidance. For example:
✔ Islam explains that humans were created as a test.
✔ Allah had planned the creation of the universe 50,000 years before.
✔ Ādam (عليه السلام) was created from clay and from him Ḥawwā (عليها السلام) was created.
Weaknesses of Atheism
Atheists are unwilling to accept that such an organized universe could not have come into existence without a Creator. In order to validate their ideology, they begin an endless chain of questions, but they do not possess any clear answers to those questions.
Modern Methods of Atheism
Nature of Objections
Today’s atheism has compiled the objections of various religions into an organized structure. Their goal is to target Islam and other religions, such as:
✔ Associating Islam with terrorism using groups like ISIS and the Taliban as a pretext.
✔ Removing Islamic figures from educational curriculums and replacing them with Western personalities.
Social Media and the Youth
Atheism misguides the younger generation through social media and the internet. College and university students, becoming distant from religion, begin to incline toward atheism.
Intellectual Weaknesses of Atheism
Problems of Philosophy
Philosophy, which claims to be the love of wisdom and intellect, fails to prove anything completely. For example:
✔ Objection is raised against the Quranic verse “وَمَكَرُواْ وَمَكَرَ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلْمَـٰكِرِينَ“, claiming that Allah deceives.
However, according to the principles of Tafsīr, here “مكر” refers to strategy and wise planning.
Practical Examples
Atheists often present the wrongdoings of religious followers as evidence against religion itself, while such matters are based on individual character, not on the religion itself.
Conclusion: Atheism or Religion?
Islam and other religions have provided the world with clear guidance, whereas atheism has failed to bring mankind to any definitive outcome.
✔ The goal of atheism is to raise doubts and suspicions.
✔ Islam grants certainty through faith and intellect.
