Shar‘i Ruling on Leucorrhoea

According to the scholars, discharges from a woman’s body can vary in nature.
Leucorrhoea (white vaginal discharge) is also included in this category. The following rulings apply:

1. Ruling on Leucorrhoea:

✔ Leucorrhoea is considered similar to urine in Sharī‘ah. Therefore:

  • If it comes into contact with the body or clothes, it is obligatory to wash the affected area.
  • Extra care must be taken to maintain cleanliness and ritual purity.

2. Cleaning of Clothes:

✔ If leucorrhoea stains the clothing, the affected portion must be washed.

✔ To prevent it from spreading, it is advisable to wear undergarments or use pads.

3. Method of Purification for Salah:

➤ Before every prayer:

① Wash the area affected by the discharge.
② Perform wudu.
③ Ensure that the body and clothing are clean before offering Salah.

Summary:

❖ Leucorrhoea is treated in Sharī‘ah like urine.
❖ Therefore, it is compulsory to wash any part of the body or clothes affected by it.
❖ For Salah, one must maintain cleanliness and perform wudu after ensuring purification.
