✿ Ruling on Accepting a Gift from a Bank Employee for Religious Work ✿
✍ Answered by: Shaykh Saʿīd Mujtabā Saʿīdī ḥafiẓahullāh

❖ Question:

Is it permissible to accept money as a gift from a bank employee for a religious cause?

✔ Answer:

Yes, it is permissible.

The matter of ḥalāl (lawful) and ḥarām (unlawful) earnings is primarily the personal responsibility of each individual.
➤ He alone will be accountable before Allah ﷻ for the nature of his income.

Therefore, accepting a gift or donation from such a person, whether for religious work or even personal use, is permissible.

✔ Summary:

✔ The sin or permissibility of earnings lies with the giver, not the receiver — unless the receiver knows with certainty that the wealth is purely ḥarām in its entirety.
✔ A gift from a bank employee (even if their job involves interest-based dealings) may be accepted for Islamic work or personal needs.
