❀ Question
Can zakāh funds be spent on mosque-related needs?
For example:
- purchasing property for the mosque,
- constructing its building,
- giving salaries or gifts to the imām or muʾadhdhin,
- or feeding fasting persons?
❀ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
✿ It is not permissible to spend zakāh funds on any mosque-related expenses.
✿ It is also not permissible to pay the imām or muʾadhdhin a salary or reward from zakāh.
✿ Likewise, it is impermissible to use zakāh funds to feed fasting people who are already well-off.
