Question:
How many recitations should be in Tahajjud?
Answer:
As long as possible, the better.
❀ Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates:
“The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم did not pray more than eleven rak’ahs in Ramadan and outside Ramadan; he would pray four rak’ahs, do not ask about their beauty and length, then four rak’ahs, exemplary in length and beauty, then three Witr rak’ahs. I asked: O Messenger of Allah! Do you sleep before Witr? He said: Aisha! My eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.”
❀ In Sahih Bukhari
it is stated:
“The prostration was so long that before you could lift your head, fifty verses could be recited.”
