Jami at-Tirmidhi 1691 — The Sword and Its Adornment
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ قَبِيعَةُ سَيْفِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ، وَهَكَذَا رُوِيَ عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ قَبِيعَةُ سَيْفِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ " .
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the hilt of the sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was bound with silver. © Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- This hadith is Hasan Gharib,
2- Similarly, this hadith is narrated by Hammad from Qatadah, and Qatadah from Anas; some people have also narrated from Sa'id bin Abi al-Hasan through Qatadah, who says: The hilt of the sword of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was bound with silver.
