Hadith 334
أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ حُنَيْنٍ ، يَقُولُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : نَتَعَجَّبُ مِمَّنْ يَتَقَدَّمُ الشَّهْرَ ، فَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَصُومُوا وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَأَفْطِرُوا فَإِنَّ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ ثَلاثِينَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I am astonished at the person who fasts before the beginning of the month of Ramadan, even though the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see the crescent, then fast, and when you see (the crescent of Eid), then break your fast. If the sky is cloudy, then complete the count to thirty."
Hadith 335
وَأَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْهِلالَ فَصُومُوا وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَأَفْطِرُوا فَإِنَّ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْدُرُوا لَهُ " . قَالَ : وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَصُومُ قَبْلَ الْهِلالِ بِيَوْمٍ . وَقِيلَ لإِبْرَاهِيمَ : تَتَقَدَّمُهُ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When you see the moon, then fast, and when you see the moon, then break the fast. If the sky is cloudy, then complete the count to thirty." The narrator says that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would fast one day before seeing the moon. Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked if he also fasted one day before, and he said, "Yes."
Hadith 336
أَنْبَأَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَتَقَدَّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَمَضَانَ بِيَوْمٍ أَوْ بِيَوْمَيْنِ إِلا رَجُلٌ كَانَ يَصُومُ صِيَامًا فَلْيَصُمْهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Do not fast a day or two before Ramadan (as a means of welcoming it), except for a person who has a habit of fasting (such as on Thursdays, Mondays, or every other day), then if that day coincides with the days just before Ramadan, he may fast."
Hadith 337
وَأَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ : " لا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوُا الْهِلالَ وَلا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْدُرُوا لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Ramadan and said: "Do not fast before sighting the moon, and do not break the fast before sighting the moon. If the sky is cloudy, then complete thirty days."
Hadith 338
وَأَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ لا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوُا الْهِلالَ وَلا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ فَإِنَّ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاكْمِلُوا الْعَدَدَ ثَلاثِينَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The month can also be of twenty-nine days. Do not fast until you see the moon, and do not stop fasting until you see the moon. If it is cloudy, then complete the count to thirty."
Hadith 339
وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا تَقَدَّمُوا الشَّهْرَ بِيَوْمٍ وَلا بِيَوْمَيْنِ إِلا أَنْ يُوَافِقَ ذَلِكَ صَوْمًا كَانَ يَصُومُهُ أَحَدُكُمْ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلاثِينَ ثُمَّ أَفْطِرُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not fast one or two days before the month of Ramadan, except for someone who has a habitual fast and it coincides with that day, then he may fast. Fast upon sighting the crescent moon, and break your fast upon sighting the crescent moon. If the sky is cloudy, then complete the count to thirty, then celebrate Eid."
Hadith 340
وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ ، قَالَتْ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ بِمِنًى إِذَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَلَى جَمَلٍ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ أَيَّامُ طُعْمٍ وَشُرْبٍ فَلا يَصُومَنَّ أَحَدٌ " ، فَاتَّبَعَ النَّاسَ وَهُوَ عَلَى جَمَلِهِ يَصِيحُ فِيهِمْ بِذَلِكَ .
Umar bin Salim Al-Zurqi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his mother, she says: We were in Mina when Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding a camel and proclaiming: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These are days of eating and drinking; no one should fast during them." He was announcing this loudly while riding the camel behind the people.
Hadith 341
وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُرَّةَ ، مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ وَذَلِكَ الْغُدُوَّ بَعْدَ الْغَدِ مِنْ يَوْمِ الأَضْحَى فَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِمْ عَمْرٌو طَعَامًا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ ، فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو : " أَفْطِرْ فَإِنَّ هَذِهِ الأَيَّامُ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُ بِإِفْطَارِهَا وَيَنْهَى عَنْ صِيَامِهَا " . قَالَ أَبُو مُرَّةَ : فَأَفْطَرَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَأَكَلَ وَأَكَلْتُ مَعَهُ . قَالَ لَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ : لَيْسَ أَحَدٌ يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْحديث عَنْ أَبِي مُرَّةَ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، غَيْرَ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيِّ وَمَا كَتَبْنَاهُ إِلا عَنِ الْمُزَنِيِّ فَأَمَّا مَنْ سِوَاهُ مِمَّا حَدَّثَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ : مِنْهُمْ مَالِكٌ وَحَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ وَاللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ فَيَقُولُونَ : عَنْ أَبِي مُرَّةَ مَوْلَى عَقِيلِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَهُوَ الصَّحِيحُ وَأَبُو مُرَّةَ فِي الْحَقِيقَةِ إِنَّمَا وَلاؤُهُ لأُمِّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا .
Abu Murrah (may Allah have mercy on him), the freed slave of Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: He and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) went to Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) two days after Eid al-Adha. Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) presented food, so Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "I am fasting." Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Break your fast, for in these days the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to break the fast and forbade fasting on these days." Abu Murrah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) broke his fast, and both of them ate the food, and I ate with them.
