Hadith 225
عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَبْتَاعُ الطَّعَامَ فِي زَمَانِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَيَبْعَثُ عَلَيْنَا مَنْ يَأْمُرُنَا بِانْتِقَالِهِ مِنَ الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي ابْتَعْنَاهُ فِيهِ إِلَى مَكَانٍ سِوَاهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ نَبِيعَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to buy grain, so he (peace be upon him) would appoint people over us who would instruct us that we must move the grain from the place where we bought it before selling it elsewhere.
Hadith 226
أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " أَمَّا الَّذِي نَهَى عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهُوَ الطَّعَامُ أَنْ يُبَاعَ حَتَّى يُكَالَ . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي يُقْبَضَ . قَالَ عَمْرٌو : قَالَ طَاوُسٌ : إِنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ بِرَأْيِهِ وَلا أَحْسِبُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ إِلا مِثْلَهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of grain that had not been measured. The narrator Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that by measuring, what is meant is taking possession. Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) says that this was the opinion of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him); in my view, this ruling applies to all things. (That is, whether it is grain or anything else, nothing should be sold to another before taking possession.)
Hadith 227
عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ , عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ ، قَالَ حَكِيمٌ : كُنْتُ أَشْتَرِي الطَّعَامَ " فَنَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَبِيعَ طَعَامًا حَتَّى أَقْبِضَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hakeem bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to buy and sell grain, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from selling the grain before taking possession of it.
Hadith 228
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ أَيُّوبَ السَّخْتِيَانِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ حَبَلِ الْحَبَلَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling the unborn offspring of a pregnant animal.
Hadith 229
عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ حَبَلِ الْحَبَلَةِ وَكَانَ بَيْعًا يَبْتَاعُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يَبْتَاعُ الْجَزُورَ إِلَى أَنْ تُنْتَجَ النَّاقَةُ ثُمَّ يُنْتَجُ الَّذِي فِي بَطْنِهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of the unborn offspring of a pregnant animal. This type of sale was prevalent in the Age of Ignorance: a person would buy a camel/she-camel and set the payment term such that when the she-camel's unborn offspring would grow up and itself become pregnant, then he would pay the price.
Hadith 230
عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، وَنَافِعٍ ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ حَبَلِ الْحَبَلَةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of the unborn offspring of a pregnant animal.
Hadith 231
وَأَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ بَيْعَتَيْنِ وَعَنْ لِبْسَتَيْنِ أَمَا الْبَيْعَتَانِ فَالْمُلامَسَةُ ، وَالْمُنَابَذَةُ وَأَمَّا اللِّبْسَتَانِ فَاشْتِمَالُ الصَّمَّاءِ ، وَالاحْتِبَاءُ بِثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ لَيْسَ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade two types of sales and two types of clothing. The two types of sales are mulamasah and munabadhah, and the types of clothing are ishtimal as-samma' and al-ihtiba', that is, sitting in such a manner in a single garment that nothing covers the private parts. He forbade this.
Hadith 232
عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْمُلامَسَةِ وَالْمُنَابَذَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale by Mulamasah and Munabadhah.
Hadith 233
أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " الْبَيِّعَانِ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بِالْخِيَارِ عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ مَا لَمْ يَفْتَرِقَا أَوْ يَكُونُ بَيْعُهُمَا عَنْ خِيَارٍ فَإِذَا كَانَ الْبَيْعُ عَنْ خِيَارٍ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: The seller and the buyer both have the option to cancel the sale before they separate, or if there is an option in their sale, then if such is the case, the sale becomes final.
Hadith 234
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ : أَمْلَى عَلَيَّ نَافِعٌ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا تَبَايَعَ الْمُتَبَايِعَانِ بِالْبَيْعِ فَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بِالْخِيَارِ مِنْ بَيْعِهِ مَا لَمْ يَتَفَرَّقَا أَوْ يَكُونُ بَيْعُهُمَا عَنْ خِيَارٍ وَإِذَا كَانَ عَنْ خِيَارٍ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ " . فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا بَاعَ الرَّجُلُ وَلَمْ يُخَيِّرْهُ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ لا يَقْبَلَهُ قَامَ فَمَشَى هُنَيْهَةً ثُمَّ رَجَعَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When two parties make a transaction, both have the option to cancel the sale as long as they have not separated, or unless they have mutually agreed to forgo the option in their transaction; if that is the case, then the sale is finalized." Nafi‘ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) made a transaction with someone and had not given the option (of cancellation), he wished that the other person would not demand a return of the sale. So Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would walk a little and then return to him.
Hadith 235
عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِذَا ابْتَاعَ الرَّجُلانِ فَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بِالْخِيَارِ مَا لَمْ يَتَفَرَّقَا إِلا بَيْعَ الْخِيَارِ وَكَانَا جَمِيعًا أَوْ يُخَيِّرُ أَحَدُهُمَا الآخَرَ فَإِنْ خَيَّرَ أَحَدُهُمَا الآخَرَ فَتَبَايَعَا عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْبَيْعُ وَإِنْ تَفَرَّقَا بَعْدَ أَنْ تَبَايَعَا وَلَمْ يَتْرُكْ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمَا الْبَيْعَ فَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْبَيْعُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When two men engage in a transaction, both have the option to cancel the sale as long as they have not separated, except in the case of a sale with a stipulated option (where the option ends or its period is fixed, its ruling is not related to separation), and both remain together (unless) one of them gives the other the option (at the time of sale). If at the time of sale both give each other the option and they settle the deal on that, then the sale is finalized. And if after making the deal they separate and until that time neither has canceled the sale, then the sale is finalized (and cannot be revoked)."
Hadith 236
عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْمُتَبَايِعَانِ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا بِالْخِيَارِ عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ مَا لَمْ يَتَفَرَّقَا إِلا بَيْعَ الْخِيَارِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The two parties involved in a transaction have the option to cancel the sale before they separate, except in the case of a sale with a stipulated option."
Hadith 237
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا اخْتَلَفَ الْبَيِّعَانِ فَالْقَوْلُ مَا قَالَ الْبَائِعُ وَالْمُبْتَاعُ بِالْخِيَارِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When there is a dispute between the seller and the buyer, the statement of the seller will be considered, and the buyer has the choice."
Hadith 238
عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَطْلُ الْغَنِيِّ ظُلْمٌ وَإِذَا أُتْبِعَ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى مَلِيءٍ فَلْيَتْبَعْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Delaying repayment of a debt by a wealthy person is injustice, and when any of you is directed towards a wealthy person (to collect the debt from him), he should go to him."
Hadith 239
أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : اسْتَسْلَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَكْرًا ، فَجَاءَتْهُ إِبِلٌ مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ ، قَالَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ : فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ الرَّجُلَ بَكْرَهُ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : إِنِّي لا أَجِدُ فِي الإِبِلِ إِلا جَمَلا خِيَارًا رَبَاعِيًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَعْطِهِ إِيَّاهُ ؛ فَإِنَّ خِيَارَ النَّاسِ أَحْسَنُهُمْ قَضَاءً " .
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took a young camel on credit. When the camels of charity arrived, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him): “Repay this man’s debt.” Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “I submitted: Among the camels there is none of that (young) kind, except a fine camel in its seventh year.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Give him that one. The best among people is the one who is best in repayment.”
Hadith 240
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا تَلَقَّوَا الرُّكْبَانَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not go out to meet trading caravans outside the market."
Hadith 241
أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا تَلَقَّوَا الرُّكْبَانَ بِالْبَيْعِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not approach trading caravans on the way in order to make deals with them.
Hadith 242
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا يَبِيعُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى بَيْعِ أَخِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: No trader should make a deal over the deal of another.
Hadith 243
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يَبِعْ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَيْعِ بَعْضٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: None of you should make an offer over the offer of his brother.
Hadith 244
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ .
Muhammad ibn Sirin, may Allah have mercy on him, also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, who narrated from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, a narration similar to the previous narration.
Hadith 245
عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا يَبِيعُ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَيْعِ بَعْضٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should make a deal over the deal of his brother."
Hadith 246
أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يَبِعْ بَعْضُكُمْ عَلَى بَيْعِ بَعْضٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No person should sell over the sale of another.
Hadith 247
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَنَاجَشُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not artificially raise prices to deceive."
Hadith 248
عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ النَّجْشِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade artificially raising prices to deceive.
Hadith 249
أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكٌ ، وَسُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا تَنَاجَشُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not outbid one another with the intention of deceiving."
Hadith 250
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا تَنَاجَشُوا " .
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not artificially raise prices to deceive."
Hadith 251
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَلا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No townsman should sell goods on behalf of a villager."
Hadith 252
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا يَبِعْ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No townsman should sell the goods of a villager."
Hadith 253
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ الطَّحَاوِيُّ : أُرَاهُ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ .
It is narrated from another chain from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, similar to the previous hadith.
Hadith 254
عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No townsman should sell goods on behalf of a villager."
Hadith 255
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ دَعُوا النَّاسَ يَرْزُقُ اللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No townsman should sell goods on behalf of a villager; rather, let the people sell for themselves so that Allah, the Exalted, may provide sustenance to them from one another."
Hadith 256
عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا يَبِيعُ حَاضِرٌ لِبَادٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A townsman should not sell goods on behalf of a villager."
Hadith 257
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا تُصَرُّوا الإِبِلَ وَلا الْغَنَمَ لِلْبَيْعِ فَمَنِ ابْتَاعَهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ بِخَيْرِ النَّظَرَيْنِ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَحْلِبَهَا إِنْ رَضِيَهَا أَمْسَكَهَا وَإِنْ سَخِطَهَا رَدَّهَا وَصَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not withhold the milk in the udder of a she-camel or a goat for the purpose of selling it. Whoever buys such an animal, after milking it, has two options: if he is pleased with the sale, he may keep it; if he is displeased, he may return the animal and along with it give one sa’ of dates."
Hadith 258
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ إِلا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " رَدَّهَا وَصَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ لا سَمْرَاءَ " .
Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) also narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in this manner, but with the addition that: "Not wheat, but give one sa’ of dates."
Hadith 259
عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " وَلا تُصَرُّوا الإِبِلَ وَلا الْغَنَمَ فَمَنِ ابْتَاعَهَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ بِخَيْرِ النَّظَرَيْنِ بَعْدَ أَنْ يَحْلِبَهَا إِنْ رَضِيَهَا أَمْسَكَهَا وَإِنْ سَخِطَهَا رَدَّهَا وَصَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do not withhold the milk of a she-camel or a goat in its udder. Hadith 260
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ حَبَّانَ بْنَ مُنْقِذٍ ، كَانَ سُفِعَ فِي رَأْسِهِ مَأْمُومَةً فَثَقُلَ لِسَانُهُ فَكَانَ يُخْدَعُ فِي الْبَيْعِ فَجَعَلَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا ابْتَاعَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ فَهُوَ فِيهِ بِالْخِيَارِ ثَلاثًا , وَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قُلْ : لا خِلابَةَ " . قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : " لا خِذَابَةَ لا خِذَابَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Hibban bin Munqidh (may Allah be pleased with him) had some deficiency in understanding due to a head injury, and this injury also caused a stutter in his speech. He used to be deceived in transactions, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fixed a three-day option for him in his purchases, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "When making a transaction, say: 'There will be no deception.'" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard him (while transacting) saying «لا خلابة لا خلابة». "There will be no deception, there will be no deception."
Hadith 261
أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا ذَكَرَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ يُخْدَعُ فِي الْبُيُوعِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا مَا بَايَعْتَ فَقُلْ : لا خِلابَةَ " . فَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا بَاعَ يَقُولُ : لا خِلابَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he is deceived in transactions, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "When you engage in a transaction, say: 'Do not deceive me.'" Then, whenever he engaged in a transaction, he would say: "Do not deceive me."
Hadith 262
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، وَعَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : بَلَغَ عُمَرَ أَنَّ سَمُرَةَ بَاعَ خَمْرًا ، فَقَالَ : قَاتَلَ اللَّهُ سَمُرَةَ ! أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّحُومُ أَنْ يَأْكُلُوهَا فَجَمَّلُوهَا فَبَاعُوهَا " . قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ : فَجَمَّلُوهَا يَعْنِي أَذَابُوهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that news reached Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) had sold wine. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May Allah destroy Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), does he not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “May Allah curse the Jews; fat was made unlawful for them, so they did not eat it, but melted it and sold it.”
Hadith 263
عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ بَرَكَةَ أَبِي الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاعِدًا خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، فَنَظَرَ سَاعَةً ثُمَّ ضَحِكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " قَاتَلَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّحُومُ فَبَاعُوهَا فَأَكَلُوا أَثْمَانَهَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِذَا حَرَّمَ عَلَى قَوْمٍ أَكْلَ شَيْءٍ حَرَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ ثَمَنَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting behind Maqam Ibrahim (peace be upon him), then he raised his blessed head towards the sky, looked for a long time, then smiled and said: "May Allah destroy the Jews; fat was made unlawful for them, so they sold it and began to consume its price. Indeed, when Allah the Exalted makes something unlawful for a people to eat, He also makes its price unlawful for them."
Hadith 264
عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ يَبِيعُ طَعَامًا فَأَعْجَبَهُ فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فِيهِ فَإِذَا هُوَ طَعَامٌ مَبْلُولٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ غَشَّنَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a grain seller whose grain pleased him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand into the grain and found it to be wet. He said: "Whoever deceives us is not from among us."
