Abu Ya’fur (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard a man from the Khuza’ah tribe, who was the governor of Makkah after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), saying that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): “O Abu Hafs! You are strong, do not press hard against the Black Stone, lest you cause hardship to the weak. Yes, if you find an opportunity, touch it; if not, then pass by it saying takbeer.” The narrator Sufyan bin ‘Uyaynah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Khuza’i was Abdur Rahman bin Nafi’ bin Abd al-Harith (may Allah have mercy on him). Hajjaj (may Allah have mercy on him) had entrusted him with responsibility after the martyrdom of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him).
