عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ : هَكَذَا حَدَّثَنَا الْمُزَنِيُّ ، وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ : يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَأَيْتُكَ تَصْنَعُ أَرْبَعًا لَمْ أَرَ أَحَدًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ يَصْنَعُهَا ، قَالَ : مَا هُنَّ يَا ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ ؟ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُكَ لا تَمَسُّ مِنَ الأَرْكَانِ إِلا الْيَمَانِيَيْنِ ، وَرَأَيْتُكَ تَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ السِّبْتِيَّةَ ، وَرَأَيْتُكَ تَصْبُغُ بِالصُّفْرَةِ ، وَرَأَيْتُكَ إِذَا كُنْتَ بِمَكَّةَ أَهَلَّ النَّاسُ إِذَا رَأَوُا الْهِلالَ وَلَمْ تُهْلِلْ أَنْتَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ : " أَمَّا الأَرْكَانُ : فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمَسُّ إِلا الْيَمَانِيَيْنِ ، وَأَمَّا النِّعَالُ السِّبْتِيَّةُ : فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ الَّتِي لَيْسَ فِيهَا شَعَرٌ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهَا ، فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَلْبَسَهَا ، وَأَمَّا الصُّفْرَةُ : فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْبُغُ بِهَا ، فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَصْبُغَ بِهَا : وَأَمَّا الإِهْلالُ : فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُهِلُّ حَتَّى تَبْعَثَ بِهِ رَاحِلَتُهُ " .
Ubaid bin Juraij (may Allah have mercy on him) said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them): O Abu Abdur Rahman! I see you doing four things that none of your companions do. He asked: O Ibn Juraij (may Allah have mercy on him), what are those? So Ibn Juraij (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I see (during Tawaf) that you do not touch any corner except the two Yemeni corners, and I see that you wear Sabti sandals, and you use yellow color, and I have seen that when you were in Makkah, as soon as people saw the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah, they started reciting Talbiyah, but you did not put on Ihram or raise the Talbiyah until the eighth day. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied: As for the matter of the corners, I have only seen the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) touching the two Yemeni corners. As for the sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wearing such sandals that had no hair on them, and he would perform ablution in them, so I also like to wear such sandals. As for the yellow color, I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) dyeing with this color, so I also like to dye (hair or cloth as fragrance) with this color. As for the matter of putting on Ihram, I did not see the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) putting on Ihram until his she-camel set out with him (towards Mina).
