عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ ، عَنْ خَالٍ ، لَهُ قَالَ : كُنَّا فِي مَوْقِفٍ لَنَا بِعَرَفَةَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : يُبْعِدُهُ عَمْرٌو مِنْ مَوْقِفِ الإِمَامِ جِدًّا فَأَتَانَا ابْنُ مِرْبَعٍ الأَنْصَارِيُّ فَقَالَ : " أَنَا رَسُولُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْكُمْ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَكُونُوا عَلَى مَشَاعِرِكُمْ هَذِهِ فَإِنَّكُمْ عَلَى إِرْثٍ مِنْ إِرْثِ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his maternal uncle (Yazid bin Shaiban) that we were quite far from the standing place of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Arafat when Ibn Muraqqab Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us and said, "I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to you. He ﷺ is saying: 'Remain in your places; you are established upon the legacy of your forefather Ibrahim (peace be upon him).'"
