أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ ، سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْفَرَعَةِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْفَرَعَةَ حَقٌّ وَأَنْ تَغْذُوَهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ ابْنَ لَبُونٍ زُخْرُبًّا فَتُعْطِيَهُ أَرْمَلَةً أَوْ تَحْمِلَ عَلَيْهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ يُكْفَأَ إِنَاؤُكَ وَتُولَهُ نَاقَتُكَ وَتَأْكُلَهُ ، يَتَلَصَّقُ لَحْمُهُ بِوَبَرِهِ " . قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ : وَقَوْلُهُ " الْفَرَعَةُ حَقٌّ " يَعْنِي أَنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِبَاطِلٍ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَلامٌ عَرَبِيٌّ يَخْرُجُ عَلَى جَوَّابِ السَّائِلِ.
It is narrated from a man of Banu Dhumrah that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was asked about Fara’. He (peace be upon him) said: “Fara’ is also a right. Leave the newborn animal until it becomes strong and robust, then give it to a widow or provide it as a mount in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. This is better than slaughtering it (while it is young), pouring out its milk, distressing the she-camel, and then eating its meat while the flesh is still clinging to the hair.”
