أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ ، فَقَالَ : " سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَى عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ ؟ " فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ .
Muhammad bin ‘Abbad, may Allah have mercy on him, asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin ‘Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, while he was performing Tawaf of the House of Allah: I have heard that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade (voluntary) fasting on Friday. He said: Yes, by the Lord of this Ka‘bah, it is so.
