عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخُوَارِ ، أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ أَرْسَلَهُ إِلَى السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ابْنِ أُخْتِ نَمِرٍ يَسْأَلُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ ، رَآهُ مِنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ فِي الصَّلاةِ ، فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُمُعَةَ فِي الْمَقْصُورَةِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قُمْتُ فِي مَقَامِي فَصَلَّيْتُ ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ ، فَقَالَ : لا تَعُدْ لِمَا فَعَلْتَ ، إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ الْجُمُعَةَ فَلا تَصِلْهَا بِصَلاةٍ حَتَّى تَكَلَّمَ أَوْ تَخْرُجَ ، " فَإِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِذَلِكَ لا تُوصَلُ صَلاةٌ بِصَلاةٍ حَتَّى تَخْرُجَ أَوْ تَكَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Umar bin Ata’ (may Allah have mercy on him) that Nafi’ bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) sent him to Sa’ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him), the nephew of Numair, to ask him about the matter which Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) had seen in his prayer. Sa’ib (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Yes, I performed the Friday prayer with Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the chamber of the mosque, and when the Imam said salam, I stood in my place and performed prayer. When Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) entered, he called me and said: Do not do this again. When you have performed the Friday prayer, do not join it with any other prayer until you have spoken or left that place, because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded that “You should not join one prayer with another until you move from that place or speak.”
