Abu Ubaid, the freed slave of Ibn Azhar (may Allah have mercy on him), narrates that he participated in the Eid prayer with Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He (Umar) first led the prayer and then delivered the sermon and said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade fasting on these two days—Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. The day of Fitr is the day of breaking the fasts, and on the day of Adha, eat from your sacrifice."
