باب: : الرجل من أهل الفقه يسأل عن الرجل من أهل الحديث فيقول: كفوا عن حديثه، لأنه يغلط أو يحدث بما لم يسمع، أو أنه لا يبصر الفتيا
Chapter: A man of fiqh is asked about a man of hadith and says: Avoid his hadith, for he errs, or narrates what he did not hear, or has no insight into fatwa

قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: " لَيْسَ هَذَا بِعَدَاوَةٍ وَلَا غِيبَةٍ، إِذَا كَانَ يَقُولُهُ لِمَنْ يَخَافُ أَنْ يَتَّبِعَهُ فَيُخْطِئَ بِاتِّبَاعِهِ، وَهَذَا مِنْ مَعَانِي الشَّهَادَاتِ.
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "This is neither enmity nor backbiting, when he says it to someone about whom he fears that he will follow him and fall into error by following him; and this is among the meanings of testimonies."
