قَالَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: {وَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا عَرَّضْتُمْ بِهِ مِنْ خِطْبَةِ النِّسَاءِ} [البقرة: 235] الْآيَةَ.
Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, says: "And there is no sin upon you in what you hint of a proposal of marriage to (widowed) women." [Surah al-Baqarah: 235] (to the end of the verse).
