Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called the Ansar in order to write (a grant) for them in Bahrain. They said: "No, by Allah! Not until you write the like of it for our brothers from Quraysh." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That will be for them, as much as Allah wills." Each time they said the same thing to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After me you will see others preferred over you, so be patient until you meet me."

Yahya bin Sa'id (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us in Madinah. He narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted the land of Bahrain to the Ansar as a fief, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to write it down for them. They said: "No, not until the Quraysh are also given the like of it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After me you will see others preferred over you, so be patient until you meet me."
