أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَدِيبُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ تَبُوكَ خَرَجَ النَّاسُ يَتَلَقَّوْنَهُ إِلَى ثَنِيَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ، فَخَرَجْتُ مَعَ النَّاسِ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ فَتَلَقَّيْنَاهُ.
Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Tabuk, the people went to Thaniyyat al-Wada' to welcome him (peace and blessings be upon him). I too went with the people, and I was a boy at that time.
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقَطِيعِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: خَرَجْتُ مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ نَتَلَقَّى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى ثَنِيَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ مَقْدَمَهُ مِنْ غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً: أَذْكُرُ مَقْدَمَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا قَدِمَ مِنْ تَبُوكَ. رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ.
Al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We went to Thaniyyat al-Wada' to welcome the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Tabuk. And Sufyan also says: I recall the welcoming of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Tabuk.
