Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I reached Abu Jahl while he was lying half dead. He had a helmet on his head and a fine sword with him, while my sword was poor. I struck his head with my sword, and at that moment I remembered how he used to beat me in Makkah. I struck him until his hand weakened, then I took hold of his sword. He raised his head and said: "Who suffered defeat, us or them?" And he said to me: "Were you not our little shepherd in Makkah?" Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I killed him. Then I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I have killed him." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, besides whom there is no god (worthy of worship), did you kill him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made me swear three times; then he went with me, and then he supplicated against them.

Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to Abu Jahl while he lay half dead among the slain. I had an old sword with me. I began striking him with my sword, but it was having no effect. He looked at me and said: "Were you not our little shepherd in Makkah?" Meanwhile his sword fell. I took hold of it and killed him with his own sword. Then I came in haste and informed him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did you kill him?" I said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) made me swear three oaths, and I swore them. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come, show him to me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) went out and I showed him to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the Pharaoh of this Ummah."

Sayyiduna Bara' bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of the battle against Musaylimah I met a powerful man who was called "the Donkey of Yamamah"; in his hand was a fine sword. I struck at his legs, and it was as if I had missed him, but his legs gave way and he fell on the back of his neck. I took hold of his sword and put my own sword in its sheath. I had struck only one blow with it when it broke, so I threw it away and took hold of my own sword.
