Sayyiduna Ruwayfi' bin Thabit al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of Hunayn: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day must not give his water to another man's child; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day must not take any animal from the spoils, (for) if he takes it and wears it out, he will still have to return it to the spoils; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day must not wear any garment from the spoils, (for) if he takes it and wears it threadbare, he will have to return it to the spoils."

Abdullah bin Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from a man of Balqayn that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in Wadi al-Qura. He asked about the spoils, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One fifth of it is for Allah, and the remaining four fifths are for the army." He said: "Does anyone have priority over anyone else?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, not even the arrow you pull out of your side; you have no greater right to it than your brother."
