Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A woman from the tribe of Juhaynah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and she was pregnant from adultery. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her guardian: "Treat her well, and when she has delivered, bring her." He did so. Then, when she came again, he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that she be stoned, and then he (peace and blessings be upon him) also offered the funeral prayer over her. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), she committed adultery and you are praying over her? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She has repented with such a repentance that, if it were divided among all the people of Madinah, it would suffice them. Have you seen anything better than that she offered up her own self for Allah Almighty?" [Sahih]

Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him), regarding the story of the Ghamidi woman and her stoning, said that Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) reviled her. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard him reviling her and said: "Gently, O Khalid! Do not revile her. By the One in whose hand is my soul, she has repented with such a repentance that, had an (unjust) tax-collector repented like it, he would have been forgiven." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave orders concerning her, offered the funeral prayer over her, and she was buried.

Lajlaj (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was sitting in the market working when a woman passed by carrying a child, and the people became agitated over her, and I did too. I took her to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: "Who is the father of this child that is with you?" She remained silent. Then a young man stood up right there and said: I am his father, O Messenger of Allah. Then he asked the woman the same: who is his father? The young man said: O Messenger of Allah, it is I. She is young; she will not speak to you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at the people sitting around him, as though asking them about him, and the people said only that they had found him to be very good. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are you married?" He said: Yes. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned; we dug a pit and stoned him, and then came back to our gatherings. Then an old man came and began asking about the one who had been stoned. We took him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, this man is asking about that wicked one. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Stop! He is more fragrant with Allah than musk." He said: We went back with that old man, and it turned out that he was his father, so we helped him with his ghusl, shrouding and burial. He said: I do not remember whether the prayer was offered over him or not.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from the tribe of Aslam came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed to adultery, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away from him, until, when he had testified against himself four times, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are you insane?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Are you married?" He said: Yes. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned. When the stones struck him, he fled, but he was caught and stoned again until he died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke good words about him, but did not offer the funeral prayer over him.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Ma'iz (may Allah be pleased with him) came before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and confessed to adultery three times. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked about him and then had him stoned. We neither dug a pit for him nor tied him. He ran, and we went towards al-Harrah, caught him and threw stones at him there until he died. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither sought forgiveness for him nor spoke ill of him.
In the narration of Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him), which contains the story of the Ghamidi woman, the funeral prayer was offered over her by his (peace and blessings be upon him) order, and she was buried; and the incident of the Ghamidi woman came after that of Ma'iz (may Allah be pleased with him), because the Ghamidi woman said: "Do you want to send me back as you sent back Ma'iz?"
