أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ قَالَا: نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنا الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنا مَالِكٌ، ح وَأنا أَبُو نَصْرٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، أنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الصِّبْغِيُّ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زِيَادٍ السَّرِيُّ، نا ابْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ عِنْدَهَا وَأَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ صَوْتَ رَجُلٍ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فِي بَيْتِ حَفْصَةَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا: فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا رَجُلٌ يَسْتَأْذِنُ فِي بَيْتِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أُرَاهُ فُلَانًا " لِعَمِّ حَفْصَةَ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ كَانَ فُلَانًا حَيًّا لِعَمِّهَا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ يَدْخُلُ عَلَيَّ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " نَعَمْ إِنَّ الرَّضَاعَةَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا تُحَرِّمُ الْوِلَادَةُ " لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ الشَّافِعِيِّ رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ وَغَيْرِهِ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى.
Amrah narrates from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was with her, and she heard the voice of a man asking permission to enter the house of Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her). Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, this man is asking permission to enter your house." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I know him; he is the foster uncle of Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her)." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, if so-and-so, that is, her foster uncle, were alive, could he come in to me?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! Suckling makes unlawful the relations that birth makes unlawful."
These are the words of Imam al-Shafi'i's hadith. Imam Bukhari recorded it in the Sahih from Isma'il bin Abi Uways and other narrators, and Imam Muslim narrated it from Yahya bin Yahya.

It is narrated from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The relations that are unlawful through birth are unlawful through suckling." Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it in his Sahih through the chain of Abu Ma'mar al-Hudhali from Ali bin Hashim.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَانَ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، نا ابْنُ مِلْحَانَ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، نا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أَخْبَرَنِي، ح، وَأنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَ: ثنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، أنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى، نا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنِي شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ أَفْلَحُ أَخُو أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ بَعْدَمَا أُنْزِلَ الْحِجَابُ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: لَا آذَنُ لَكَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؛ فَإِنَّ أَخَا أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ لَيْسَ هُوَ أَرْضَعَنِي وَلَكِنْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي امْرَأَةُ أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ قَالَتْ: فَدَخَلَ عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَفْلَحَ أَخَا أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ، فَأَبَيْتُ أَنْ آذَنَ لَهُ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَكَ فِي ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَمَا يَمْنَعُكِ أَنْ تَأْذَنِي لِعَمِّكِ؟ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيْسَ هُوَ أَرْضَعَنِي وَلَكِنْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي امْرَأَتُهُ قَالَتْ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ائْذَنِي لَهُ فَإِنَّهُ عَمُّكِ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ " قَالَ عُرْوَةُ: فَبِذَلِكَ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا تَقُولُ: حَرِّمُوا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا تُحَرِّمُونَ مِنَ النَّسَبِ، لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ عُقَيْلٍ بَعْدَمَا نَزَلَ الْحِجَابُ فَقُلْتُ: وَاللهِ لَا آذَنُ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَالْبَاقِي نَحْوَهُ، رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ وَعَنْ أَبِي الْيَمَانِ.
Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Aflah (the brother of Abu al-Qu'ays) asked my permission (to enter) after the command of hijab had been revealed. I said to him: I will not give you permission until I ask permission of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), for the brother of Abu al-Qu'ays did not suckle me; rather, the wife of Abu al-Qu'ays suckled me. She said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came in to me, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, Aflah (the brother of Abu al-Qu'ays) asked my permission to enter, and I refused to give him permission until I asked you about it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "What prevents you from giving permission to your uncle?" I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the man did not suckle me; rather, his wife suckled me. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him permission, for he is your uncle, may your hands be covered in dust."
Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Because of this, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to say: "Treat as unlawful through suckling (all) that you treat as unlawful through lineage."
These are the words of the hadith of Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah. In the narration of Uqayl it says (after the command of hijab was revealed): I said: By Allah, I will not give him permission until I ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the rest (of the narration) is similar. Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih from Yahya bin Bukayr and Abu al-Yaman.

Yunus informed us of this same narration from Ibn Shihab (may Allah have mercy on him). Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it in his Sahih through the chain of Harmalah (may Allah have mercy on him) from Ibn Wahb (may Allah have mercy on him).
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى، أنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، أنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أنا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ عَمَّهَا أَخَا أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ جَاءَ يَسْتَأْذِنُ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدَمَا ضُرِبَ الْحِجَابُ فَأَبَتْ أَنْ تَأْذَنَ لَهُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَسْتَأْذِنَهُ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَتْ جَاءَ عَمِّي أَخُو أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ فَرَدَدْتُهُ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْذِنَكَ، فَقَالَ: " أَوَلَيْسَ بِعَمِّكِ؟ " قَالَتْ: إِنَّمَا أَرْضَعَتْنِي الْمَرْأَةُ وَلَمْ يُرْضِعْنِي الرَّجُلُ، قَالَ: " إِنَّهُ عَمُّكِ فَيَلِجُ عَلَيْكِ " وَكَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا تُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا تُحَرِّمُ مِنَ الْوِلَادَةِ، ⦗٧٤٤⦘ أَخْرَجَاهُ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، مِنْ حَدِيثِ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ.
Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed me that her uncle, the brother of Abu al-Qu'ays, came and asked permission to come in to her after the command of hijab had been revealed. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) refused to give him permission until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and she could ask his permission. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, she mentioned this to him (peace and blessings be upon him): My uncle, the brother of Abu al-Qu'ays, came, and I sent him back until I could ask your (peace and blessings be upon him) permission. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is he not your uncle?" I said: It was the woman who suckled me; the man did not suckle me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is your uncle; he may come in to you." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to treat as unlawful through suckling (the relations) that are unlawful through birth.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَحْمَوَيْهِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، نا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْقَلَانِسِيُّ، نا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، نا شُعْبَةُ، نا الْحَكَمُ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيَّ أَفْلَحُ أَخُو أَبِي الْقُعَيْسِ فَلَمْ آذَنْ لَهُ فَقَالَ أَتَحْتَجِبِينَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا عَمُّكِ؟ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: وَكَيْفَ ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ: أَرْضَعَتْكِ امْرَأَةُ أَخِي بِلَبَنِ أَخِي قَالَتْ: فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " صَدَقَ أَفْلَحُ فَائْذَنِي لَهُ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ آدَمَ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ، مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ.
It is narrated from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): Aflah, the brother of Abu al-Qu'ays, asked my permission to enter, and I did not give him permission. He said: Do you veil yourself from me when I am your uncle? She said: I said: How is that? He said: The wife of my brother suckled you with my brother's milk. She said: I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Aflah has spoken the truth; give him permission."
Bukhari narrated it in the Sahih from Adam, and Muslim recorded it through another chain from Shu'bah.

وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، نا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي اللَّيْثُ، ح قَالَ: وَأنبأ أَبُو الْفَضْلِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عِرَاكِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ عَمَّهَا مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ يُسَمَّى أَفْلَحُ اسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْهَا فَحَجَبَتْهُ فَأَخْبَرَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهَا: " لَا تَحْتَجِبِي فَإِنَّهُ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ قُتَيْبَةَ.
Urwah narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): My foster uncle Aflah asked permission to come in to me, and I veiled myself from him. Then I told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not veil yourself from him, for the relations that are unlawful through lineage become unlawful through suckling as well." Muslim narrated it in the Sahih from Qutaybah.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَنْبَرٍ، أنا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، نا هَمَّامٌ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ، ح وَأنبأ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنبأ أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ بِبَغْدَادَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ غَالِبٍ، ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ثنا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرِيدَ عَلَى ابْنَةِ حَمْزَةَ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ لِي إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَإِنَّ اللهَ حَرَّمَ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا حَرَّمَ مِنَ النَّسَبِ " وَفِي رِوَايَةِ هُدْبَةَ: " إِنَّهَا لَا تَصْلُحُ لِي إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَيَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ "، رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، عَنْ هُدْبَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the daughter of Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) was proposed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is not lawful for me, for she is the daughter of my foster brother, and Allah Almighty has made unlawful through suckling all that He has made unlawful through lineage." In the narration of Hudbah: "She is not suitable for me, for she is the daughter of my foster brother, and what is unlawful through lineage is also unlawful through suckling."

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ⦗٧٤٥⦘ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، ح وَأنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، نا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَالِي أَرَاكَ تَتَوَّقُ فِي قُرَيْشٍ وَتَدَعُنَا قَالَ: " عِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ؟ " قُلْتُ: نَعَمِ ابْنَةُ حَمْزَةَ قَالَ: " إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيِّ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), why do I see you showing a preference for (marrying from) Quraysh while leaving us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have anything (to suggest)?" I said: Yes, the daughter of Hamzah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is the daughter of my foster brother." Muslim narrated it in the Sahih from Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Muqaddami.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، نا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَخْرَمَةُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُسْلِمٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ مُسْلِمٍ الزُّهْرِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَقُولُ: قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيْنَ أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَنِ ابْنَةِ حَمْزَةَ أَوْ قِيلَ: لَا تَخْطُبُ ابْنَةَ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّ حَمْزَةَ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ هَارُونَ الْأَيْلِيِّ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ.
Humayd bin Abd al-Rahman said: I heard Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), say: It was said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): What is your view of the daughter of Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him)? Or it was said: Will you not propose to the daughter of Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Hamzah is my foster brother."

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، أنا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، نا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ، نا سُفْيَانُ، نا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي دُرَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ؟ قَالَ: " فَأَفْعَلُ مَاذَا؟ " قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: تَنْكِحُهَا قَالَ: " أَتُحِبِّينَ ذَلِكَ؟ " قُلْتُ: لَسْتُ لَكَ بِمُخْلِيَةٍ وَأَحَبُّ مَنْ يَشْرَكُنِي فِي خَيْرٍ أُخْتِي قَالَ: " فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَحِلُّ " قُلْتُ: فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تَخْطُبُ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَ: " ابْنَةُ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ؟ " قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ قَالَ: " فَوَاللهِ لَوْ لَمْ تَكُنْ رَبِيبَتِي فِي حِجْرِي مَا حَلَّتْ لِي لَقَدْ أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَأَبَاهَا ثُوَيْبَةُ فَلَا تَعْرِضْنَ عَلَيَّ بَنَاتِكُنَّ وَلَا أَخَوَاتِكُنَّ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنِ الْحُمَيْدِيِّ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ، مِنْ وَجْهٍ آخَرَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ، وَقَالُوا فِيهِ عَنْ هِشَامٍ: دُرَّةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ وَكَذَلِكَ قَالَهُ الزُّهْرِيُّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ وَقَالَ: أَنْكِحْ أُخْتِي عَزَّةَ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَرْضَعَتْنِي وَأَبَا سَلَمَةَ ثُوَيْبَةُ.
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), do you have any interest in Durrah, the daughter of Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And do what?" She said: I said: Marry her. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would you like that?" I said: I do not have you to myself alone, and the one I would most like to share in good with me is my sister. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is not lawful for me." I said: It has reached me that you (peace and blessings be upon him) have proposed to Zaynab bint Abi Salamah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The daughter of Umm Salamah?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, even if she were not my stepdaughter under my care, she would not be lawful for me. Thuwaybah suckled me and her father. So do not offer me your daughters or your sisters." Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it in his Sahih from al-Humaydi, and Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded it through another chain from Hisham. They said in it, from Hisham: Durrah bint Abi Salamah. Likewise al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it from Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him), and said: Marry my sister Azzah. Some narrated from al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) (that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said): "Thuwaybah suckled me and Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him)."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، نا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْغَافِقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي إِيَاسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ قَالَ: " قَالَ لَا تَنْكِحْ مَنْ أَرْضَعَتْهُ امْرَأَةُ أَبِيكَ، وَلَا امْرَأَةُ ابْنِكَ، وَلَا امْرَأَةُ أَخِيكَ ".
It is narrated from Iyas bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him): Do not marry one whom your father's wife has suckled, nor one whom your son's wife has suckled, nor one whom your brother's wife has suckled.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، أنا الشَّافِعِيُّ، أنبأ مَالِكٌ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ بِبَغْدَادَ، أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ دُرُسْتَوَيْهِ، نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، نا ابْنُ قَعْنَبٍ، وَابْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، وَأَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الشَّرِيدِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا سُئِلَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ كَانَتْ لَهُ امْرَأَتَانِ فَأَرْضَعَتْ إِحْدَاهُمَا غُلَامًا وَأَرْضَعَتِ الْأُخْرَى جَارِيَةً فَقِيلَ يَتَزَوَّجُ الْغُلَامُ الْجَارِيَةَ، فَقَالَ: " لَا اللِّقَاحُ وَاحِدٌ ".
It is narrated from Amr bin al-Sharid that Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about a man who had two wives; one of them suckled a boy and the other suckled a girl. May the boy marry the girl? He said: No, because their insemination, or the one who made them pregnant, is one and the same.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، نا مُعَلَّى، نا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: " يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ " وَرُوِّينَا هَذَا الْمَذْهَبُ مِنَ التَّابِعِينَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، وَعَطَاءٍ، وَطَاوُسٍ، وَمُجَاهِدٍ، وَالزُّهْرِيِّ.
It is narrated from Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "The (relations) that are unlawful through lineage become unlawful through suckling."
