Abu Juhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not one who eats while reclining." It is reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat while sitting and would say: "I am a servant; I eat just as a servant eats."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Busr (may Allah be pleased with him) that a goat was given to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) as a gift, and food was scarce on that day. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his family: "Cook this goat, make tharid from the bread, and pour (the broth) over it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a large bowl called "al-Gharra'", which four men would carry. When it was the time of Duha and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had prayed the Duha prayer, this bowl would be brought and the people would form a circle around it. When the number of people became large, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would kneel down on his knees. A Bedouin said: What kind of sitting is this? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah has made me a noble servant, and He has not made me a disobedient tyrant." Then he said: "Eat from its sides and leave its middle; blessing will be placed in it." Then he said: "Take and eat. By Allah, in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Persia and Rome will be conquered (for you), and food will become plentiful, but the name of Allah will not be mentioned over it."
