Qabisah bin Hulb narrates from his father (Sayyiduna Hulb (may Allah be pleased with him)) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a man asked him: "There are some foods that I feel uneasy about." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let nothing cause unease in your heart in which you would be resembling Christianity."

Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! My father used to maintain the ties of kinship and do such-and-such deeds, but he died in the Jahiliyyah (the pre-Islamic era of ignorance)." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your father attained what he intended, that is, renown." He said: "I want to ask about leaving a food because of some scruple." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not feel scruples about anything, otherwise you would be imitating Christianity." He said: "I send my dog and it catches the game and brings it, and I slaughter it with a stone or a stick." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Make the blood flow with whatever you wish, and mention the name of Allah."
