أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أنا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْهَرَوِيُّ، نا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ نا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " إِذَا دَخَلَ الرَّجُلُ بَيْتَهُ فَذَكَرَ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ وَعِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ: لَا مَبِيتَ لَكُمْ وَلَا عَشَاءَ، وَإِذَا دَخَلَ فَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ دُخُولِهِ، قَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ: أَدْرَكْتُمُ الْمَبِيتَ، فَإِذَا لَمْ يَذْكُرِ اللهَ عِنْدَ طَعَامِهِ قَالَ: أَدْرَكْتُمُ الْمَبِيتَ وَالْعَشَاءَ " رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى عَنْ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ.
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When a man mentions Allah upon entering his house and says 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) at his meal, Shaytan says (to his companions): 'There is no place for you to spend the night and no supper.' When he enters his house and does not mention Allah upon entering, Shaytan says: 'You have found a place to spend the night,' and when he does not say 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah) at his meal, Shaytan says: 'You have found both a place to spend the night and supper.'"
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ فُورَكٍ، أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، نا يُونُسُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، نا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، نا هِشَامٌ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَا: نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ، نا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْمَيْمُونِيُّ، نا رَوْحٌ، نا هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْكُلُ فِي سِتَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ جَائِعٌ فَأَكَلَهُ بِلُقْمَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَوْ ذَكَرَ اسْمَ اللهِ لَكَفَاكُمْ فَإِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللهِ فَإِنْ نَسِيَ أَنْ يُسَمِّيَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ اللهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ "، لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ رَوْحِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ.
Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was eating with six of his Companions when a hungry Bedouin came and ate it in two mouthfuls. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Had he mentioned the name of Allah, that is, recited Bismillah, it would have sufficed you. When you eat, mention the name of Allah. If one forgets to mention the name of Allah at the beginning, let him say this supplication: 'Bismillahi awwalahu wa akhirahu' (In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end)."
