Allah Almighty says: "Forbidden to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal aunts, your maternal aunts, the daughters of your brother, the daughters of your sister, your mothers who nursed you, your sisters through nursing, the mothers of your wives, and your stepdaughters who are raised under your guardianship, born of your wives with whom you have had intercourse; but if you have not had intercourse with them, there is no sin upon you; and the wives of your sons who are from your own loins, and that you combine two sisters (in marriage), except what has already passed. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving, Most Merciful." [Surah al-Nisa: 23]
And Allah Almighty said: "And do not marry those women whom your fathers have married." [Surah al-Nisa: 22]

Amrah bint Abd al-Rahman said that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed her that one day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was with her when Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) heard the voice of a man asking permission to enter the house of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah, this man is asking permission to enter your house. She said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is Hafsah's paternal uncle through nursing." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: If so-and-so, who was her paternal uncle through nursing, were alive, could he enter my house? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, because nursing also makes forbidden those relations that lineage does."
