Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah chose the Arabs, and from the Arabs He chose Kinanah," or he said: "al-Nadr bin Kinanah." The narrator Hammad was in doubt. "Then from them He chose Quraysh, and from Quraysh He chose Banu Hashim, then He chose me from Banu Hashim."
This is a hasan (good) mursal report.

Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Arabs! You are superior to us because of two traits: 1. we do not marry your women, that is, it is not permitted; 2. and we do not lead you in prayer."
The preserved (mahfuz) version of this is mawquf (Salman's own statement).
