قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى: {وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنُوا} [البقرة: 221]، وَقَالَ: {وَلَا تَنْكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكَاتِ حَتَّى يُؤْمِنَّ} [البقرة: 221]، ثُمَّ اسْتَثْنَى فَقَالَ: {وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ الذِّينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ} [المائدة: 5] دَلَّ بِذَلِكَ عَلَى أَنَّ الْمُرَادَ بِالْمُشْرِكَاتِ الْوَثَنِيَّاتُ وَالْمَجُوسِيَّاتُ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Allah Almighty says: "And do not marry (your women) to polytheist men until they believe." [Surah al-Baqarah: 221]
And He said: "And do not marry polytheist women until they believe." [Surah al-Baqarah: 221]
Then, making an exception (to this ruling), He said: "And (also lawful are) the chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you." [Surah al-Ma'idah: 5]
By this Allah Almighty indicated that what is meant by polytheist women is idol-worshipping and Magian women, and Allah knows best.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ قَالَ: انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَالْأَشْتَرُ، إِلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: " هَلْ عَهِدَ إِلَيْكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ يَعْهَدْهُ إِلَى النَّاسِ؟، فَقَالَ: " لَا إِلَّا مَا فِي كِتَابِي وَإِذَا فِيهِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ تَكَافَأُ دِمَاؤُهُمْ وَهُمْ يَدٌ عَلَى مَنْ سِوَاهُمْ " وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ.
Qays bin Ubad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I and al-Ashtar came to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and we said: "O Ali! Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entrust you with anything that he did not entrust to the people?" He said: "No, except what is in this document of mine." And in it was: "The blood of the Muslims is equal (in value), and they are as one hand against those besides them."
