A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and offered herself (in marriage) to him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have no need of women." A Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, give her to me in marriage. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have anything?" He said: No, I have nothing. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know any of the Qur'an?" He said: Yes, such-and-such surahs. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I marry her to you on account of the Qur'an (that you know)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have more right than anyone to the well-being of every believer in this world and the Hereafter. Recite, if you wish: 'The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves' [Surah al-Ahzab: 6]. Whoever leaves wealth, it is for his heirs, and whoever leaves a burden (of debt) or the like, I will settle it on his behalf."
