أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، ثنا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عِيسَى، ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أنبأ شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْطِينِي الْعَطَاءَ فَأَقُولُ: أَعْطِهِ أَفْقَرَ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي، حَتَّى أَعْطَانِي مَرَّةً مَالًا، فَقُلْتُ: أَعْطِهِ أَفْقَرَ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " خُذْهُ فَتَمَوَّلْهُ أَوْ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ، وَمَا جَاءَكَ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ وَأَنْتَ غَيْرُ مُشْرِفٍ وَلَا سَائِلٍ فَخُذْهُ، وَمَا لَا فَلَا تُتْبِعْهُ نَفْسَكَ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي الْيَمَانِ.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I heard Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him a gift. I said: "Give it to someone in need, (O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him))," until he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me some wealth. I said: "Give this to someone in need," and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Take it; keep it with you or give it in charity. Whatever wealth comes to you without your having been eager for it and without your having asked for it, take it; and whatever does not come, do not make yourself greedy for it."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَمْرِو بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُونُسَ، ثنا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ، أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُعْطِي عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ الْعَطَاءَ، فَيَقُولُ لَهُ عُمَرُ: أَعْطِهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَفْقَرَ إِلَيْهِ مِنِّي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " خُذْهُ فَتَمَوَّلْهُ أَوْ تَصَدَّقْ بِهِ، وَمَا أَتَاكَ مِنْ هَذَا الْمَالِ وَأَنْتَ غَيْرُ مُشْرِفٍ وَلَا سَائِلٍ فَخُذْهُ، وَمَا لَا فَلَا تُتْبِعْهُ نَفْسَكَ " قَالَ سَالِمٌ: فَمِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ لَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا، وَلَا يَرُدُّ شَيْئًا أُعْطِيَهُ. قَالَ عَمْرٌو: وَحَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ بِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ حُوَيْطِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّعْدِيِّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ.
Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gifts, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would say: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), give it to someone in need." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take it; give it in charity or keep it with you. Whatever wealth comes to you in such a way that you were not eager for it and did not ask for it, take it; and whatever does not come, do not long for it." Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: For this reason Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would neither ask people for anything nor return anything that was given to him.
حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْخُ الْإِمَامُ أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ سَهْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ ⦗٣٠٥⦘ جَامِعِ بْنِ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كَانَ رَجُلٌ فِي أَهْلِ الشَّامِ مَرْضِيًّا، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: عَلَامَ يُحِبُّكَ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ؟ قَالَ: أُغَازِيهِمْ وَأُوَاسِيهِمْ، قَالَ: فَعَرَضَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ عَشَرَةَ آلَافٍ قَالَ: خُذْهَا وَاسْتَعِنْ بِهَا فِي غَزْوِكَ، قَالَ: إِنِّي عَنْهَا غَنِيٌّ، قَالَ عُمَرُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَرَضَ عَلَيَّ مَالًا دُونَ الَّذِي عَرَضْتُ عَلَيْكَ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي قُلْتَ لِي، فَقَالَ لِي: " إِذَا آتَاكَ اللهُ مَالًا لَمْ تَسْأَلْهُ وَلَمْ تَشْرَهْ إِلَيْهِ نَفْسُكَ فَاقْبَلْهُ؛ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ رِزْقٌ سَاقَهُ اللهُ إِلَيْكَ ".
Zayd bin Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that there was a man from Syria to whom Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Why do the people of Syria love you?" He said: "I go out on military expeditions with them and I keep up fellowship and sympathy (muwasah) with them." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) gave him ten thousand and said: "Take them and use them to help yourself in your expeditions." He said: "I have no need of them." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me wealth other than what I have given you, and I said to him the same as you said to me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When Allah gives you wealth that you did not ask for and that your heart was not eager for, accept it, for it is only provision that Allah has given you.'"
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ، وَأَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، وَأَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، قَالُوا: ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، أنبأ أَبِي وَشُعَيْبُ بْنُ اللَّيْثِ، قَالَا: أنبأ اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَامِرٍ بَعَثَ إِلَى عَائِشَةَ بِنَفَقَةٍ وَكِسْوَةٍ، فَقَالَتْ لِرَسُولِهِ: يَا بُنِيَّ، إِنِّي لَا أَقْبَلُ مِنْ أَحَدٍ شَيْئًا، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ قَالَتْ: رُدُّوهُ عَلَيَّ، فَرَدُّوهُ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي ذَكَرْتُ شَيْئًا قَالَهُ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ: " يَا عَائِشَةُ، مَنْ أَعْطَاكِ عَطَاءً بِغَيْرِ مَسْأَلَةٍ فَاقْبَلِيهِ؛ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ رِزْقٌ عَرَضَهُ اللهُ عَلَيْكِ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) sent maintenance and clothing to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the one who brought it: "My son, I do not take anything from anyone." When he had left, she said: "Call him back." Then she said: "I remembered that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: 'O Aishah, whoever gives you something without your asking, accept it, for it is provision that Allah has given you.'"
وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ، أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَطَّانُ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: " مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ يُهْدِي إِلِيَّ بِهَدِيَّةٍ إِلَّا قَبِلْتُهَا، فأَمَّا الْمَسْأَلَةُ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَسْأَلُ ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Whenever any person gives me a gift, I accept it; but I do not ask anyone for anything."
