It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man gave the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a valuable milch camel as a gift. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him camels in return, and the man was displeased. the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will excuse me for so-and-so? He gave me a milch camel as a gift, and it is as though I can see it in the faces of some of my family. I gave him six young camels in return, yet he is displeased. By Allah, I have resolved that I will not accept a gift except from someone of Quraysh, the Ansar, Thaqif or Daws."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives a gift has the most right to it as long as he has not been given something in return for it."
This is an error (wahm); the preserved version is the one that follows.
Hadith Reference
Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever gives a gift for the sake of Allah, then that is his; and whoever gives a gift wanting a return for it, he may take it back if he is not satisfied (with the return).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The giver has the most right to his gift as long as he has not been given something in return."
This text fits this chain better. Ibrahim bin Isma'il is da'if (weak) according to the scholars of hadith, and (the narration of) Amr bin Dinar from Abu Hurayrah is munqati' (broken).
Hadith Reference
Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever gives a gift and is not given anything in return has the most right to his gift, except (a gift) to a relative.
Al-Bukhari said: This is more authentic.
Hadith Reference
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a gift is to a mahram relative, he should not take it back."
We have recorded it only through this chain, and it is not strong.
Hadith Reference
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The likeness of one who asks for the return of what he gifted is that of a dog which vomits and then eats its vomit. So when the giver asks for it back, let him be made to stand and be made known for what he has taken back; then let what he gifted be handed over to him."
Hadith Reference
Abu Ghatafan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Marwan bin al-Hakam that Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever gives a gift to uphold ties of kinship, or by way of charity, should not take it back. And whoever gives a gift intending to be given something in return, he keeps his claim on his gift and may take it back if he is not satisfied (with the return).
Hadith Reference
Ibn Abi al-Zinad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father, and he from the jurists of Madinah, that they used to say that every gift given by a person of means carries no compensation and no return; and they said: The return is for the one who gives his gift for the sake of a return; he has the greater right to his gift as long as he has not been given a return for it. Umar bin Abd al-Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) ruled likewise.
In the narration of Isa bin Mina: He has the greater right to his gift as long as he has not been given a return for it and as long as it has not perished.
