Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "selling a sheep for meat."
This chain is sahih (authentic). Whoever affirms that al-Hasan al-Basri heard from Samurah bin Jundub counts it as connected, and whoever does not affirm it, then it is a good mursal report, to be joined with the mursal reports of Sa'id bin al-Musayyib and al-Qasim bin Abi Bazzah and the statement of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "buying meat in exchange for an animal."
This is the correct version. Yazid bin Marwan al-Khallal narrated it from Malik, from al-Zuhri, from Sahl bin Sa'd, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and erred in it.
