Zayd Abu Ayyash asked Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) about selling fine wheat (bayda') for inferior grain (sult). Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Which of the two is better? He said: The bayda'. So Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade it and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was asked about buying dried dates for fresh dates; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do fresh dates decrease when they dry?" They said: Yes. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it.

Malik bin Anas narrated it from Dawud bin al-Husayn, from Abdullah bin Yazid, the freed slave of al-Aswad bin Sufyan, and mentioned it in full.
Ali (bin al-Madini) said: My father's hearing from Malik was early, before these others heard from him. So I think that Malik had at first noted it down from Dawud bin al-Husayn, from Abdullah bin Yazid; then he heard it from Abdullah bin Yazid himself. He narrated it early on from Dawud, then he looked into it and corrected it to be from Abdullah bin Yazid, and left out Dawud bin al-Husayn. And Allah knows best.

Malik, Isma'il bin Umayyah, al-Dahhak bin Uthman and Usamah bin Zayd all narrate it from Abdullah bin Yazid, and they do not mention the word "on credit".
The agreement of these four in contradicting what Yahya narrated indicates their precision in the hadith, and among them is an imam and hafiz, Malik bin Anas. The reason transmitted in this report indicates that this word is an error.
